January 18, 2004 - Philly to go goalie shopping?
Various sources have reported that Jeff Hackett's days as the Flyer's starter are over. If Robert Esche does not grab that role soon, Khabibulin, Burke, Kolzig and Biron were some of the names suggested to be heading to Philadelphia.
January 18, 2004 - Rangers after Alfredsson?
The Ottawa Sun reported that the New York Rangers would make a strong pitch for Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson, if he isn't signed by July 1st.
January 14, 2004 - Zhamnov attracting some attention? is reporting that several NHL teams have inquired about the services of Alexei Zhamnov. The Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils, Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks were listed among possible suitors.
January 14, 2004 - Khabibulin, Burke to stay?
Various sources have reported that Nikolai Khabibulin and Sean Burke of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Phoenix Coyotes respectively may stay on with their clubs, despite the strong play of their backups. However various other sources, including ESPN and Al Strachan, have suggested Khabibulin could likely be moved.
January 12, 2004 - Pronger not to be qualified?
It remains uncertain whether the St. Louis Blues will qualify Chris Pronger at the end of the season. The Blues would have to offer $9.5 million at the end of the season. They may opt to trade Pronger if the right offer came.
January 9, 2004 - Blues interested in Brewer?
Larry Wigge has reported that the St. Louis Blues are interested in Eric Brewer, due to injuries on their blueline. No word on what they would be giving up, but Edmonton is looking for scoring help.
January 9, 2004 - Hicks threatens changes for Stars
Stars' owner Tom Hicks has let it be known that if the Stars are not in playoff contention 30 days from now, changes will be made. Hicks claims his team is teasing their fans with inconsistant play. Richard Matvichuk, Teppo Numminen, Stu Barnes, and Jason Arnott are all candidates to be traded if the team doesn't turn things around.
January 7, 2004 - Oilers after Satan?
Various sources have reported that the Oilers may be offering Eric Brewer and Georges Laraque to Buffalo for Miroslav Satan. The Oilers have been rumored to be shopping Eric Brewer for some scoring help for some time.
December 30, 2003 - Canucks looking for powerplay quarterback, tough scorer
Canucks' Senior Vice President Dave Nonis suggested that his team may be looking for a powerplay quarterback or a tough goal-scorer. Mark Parrish, Glen Murray, Brian Rolston, Anson Carter, Roman Hamrlik, and Tom Poti may be on his list.
December 30, 2003 - Rangers looking at Khabibulin?
The New York Times Reported that Dirk Graham, one of the Lightning's top scouts, was in attendance to see the Rangers beat Phoenix 3-2 in overtime. They suggest Graham's attendance may be a sign that Glen Sather may be looking at Nikolai Khabibulin. Tampa Bay may be looking for a package of Dunham along with Tom Poti, or Anson Carter. If these two teams remain this close in the standings, a trade between them will be less likely.
December 28, 2003 - Bruins to trade soon?
With Boston struggling as much as they are recently, changes are bound to be made. Boston may be looking for defensive help. They may be looking to package Hal Gill, or Dan McGillis along with a forward for a stronger defenseman. Free agent to be Brian Rolston, P.J. Axelson, Sergei Samsonov, and even Glen Murray could be on their way out. They are believed to be after Sergei Gonchar and Tom Poti among others.
December 27, 2003 - Rangers and Bruins talking trade?
Two rumors are floating around involving the Rangers and Bruins. One rumor has powerplay quarterback Tom Poti going to Boston with the 6'7 Hal Gill going to New York. The second, more realistic rumor has former Bruin Anson Carter accompanying Poti to Boston in exchange for Jeff Jillson and P.J. Axelsson. It is believed Boston is after Poti because they lack a bonafide powerplay pointman, and have tries many in that spot, including aging defensive forward Ted Donato.
December 19, 2003 - Huselius on the block
Various sources suggest that new Panthers coach Rick Dudley is unhappy with the play of left-wing Kristian Huselius and will consider trading him, although the price would be steep.
December 15, 2003 - A Twist in Comrie talks?
Sources have suggested that the Philadelphia Flyers have jumped into the Comrie race. It is believed that Oiler's GM Kevin Lowe is hesitant to deal Comrie to a Western Conference team, and would be far more willing to deal with a team in the East. However, Anaheim is still the front-runner for Comrie's services.
